August 9th, 2010 - REGISTRATION DEADLINE

MONDAY 16th AUGUST

In order to avoid the problem of teams being withdrawn for lack of players as soon as we have generated the fixtures and to put back the date when clubs have to confirm their teams, we have changed the system.
We have also removed the financial penalty for not registering enough players.
However, this season - teams that have not submitted a minimum of eleven player registrations by Aug 16th will not be included in the fixtures. Even so, there will be an enormous amount of work for the Registration Secretaries before the first game of the new season on Sept 12th.
You can take your registrations to one of the meetings on Aug 10th and 11th. You can post to Allan Watt (13-18) or Kath Metcalfe (11-12) or you can hand deliver to Mike Breeze (Secretary) for passing on. This last arrangement is a temporary arrangement until the meeting.

July 30th, 2010 - “Meet the Managers” meetings‏

have two dates now. Tuesday August 10th at Eccleshill United and Wednesday August 11th at Queensbury Celtic. Both starting at 7pm till about 9pm or earlier if we get the business done.

Firstly we would like to meet managers, coaches, club officials who are new to the League. We will go through some things to make life easy for all and then answer questions. Things like players numbers, registrations and transfers, getting referees, spectator areas, paperwork, getting help, etc.
The second item will be to receive registration applications. Bring along the forms, registration cards, other documents and have them checked by members of the Management Committee. The idea to to try and avoid errors and save wasted efforts. This will save you posting the stuff to us and we will pay for the return of the cards to you! How’s that for an offer?
We are also keen to hear from clubs - matters that don’t get raised in the very few general meetings.
Further information to follow but please spread the word as the task of adding manager’s emails is taking a huge amount of time. I am not sure when I will get the job finished.
It may be that we can arrange a third evening but this has still to be sorted.
Mike

July 18th, 2010 - Charter Standard League Status

To confirm that the presentation of the certificate and crystal award will be made at 6.15.pm at Sandylands Sports Centre, Skipton on Tuesday next, July 20th.

The criteria for the Programme are divided into 6 development areas, reflecting the approach of the National Game Strategy:

  • Growth and Retention
  • Raising Standards and Addressing Behavior
  • Better Players
  • Running the Game
  • Workforce Development
  • All Goals and Enablers
  • Further information can be found below.

Since the inception of the Charter Standard programme the League has been encouraging member clubs to achieve the award. 95% success was achieved two year’s ago and it was considered approrpriate to try and achieve Charter Standard status for the League itself. Considerable time has been spent by Ian Thornton and Kath Rickaby, members of the Management Committee, in drawing up the League Statement for submission to the Football Association.

Many requirements of the Football Association have already been achieved in advance of the Award. Other targets for the League include retention of clubs and players; observance of the FA “Respect” policy; help for team captains to comply with their “Respect” responsibilities, short coaching sessions aimed at giving clubs ideas for improving sessions, help with improving club organisation, etc.
